Monday

We got up earlier today, had breakfast (cornflakes, yogurt, eggs and swedish meatballs!) and went out to the venue. There was a wonderful 'ice fog' or dimma in Swedish, covering the trees in a white crust. The 22km course had not yet been rolled (maybe tomorrow?) as they are getting the courses and stadium perfect. We skied over an hour on the 15km and other trails.

We went back for lunch, homework, a trip to the store (the COOP! just like home) . I got my official International Biathlon Union (IBU) credentials.

Later we returned to the venue where the men were having offical practice. I worked with the coaches in the range and Dad did video up on the course while the men did their time trial. It was cold, but thankfully the coaches like to stop and have coffee (and tea!).

After the time trial we went back and had dinner (salads, vegetable soup, fish, rice and warm sweet bread and butter.
I was sent off to homework land while dad went to team meetings.
Here I am back in the room.

Dear Sam:

I have so much trouble getting these notes off to you, I still don't know if you're even getting them. Anyway, sounds like an incredible adventure. We won't be able to send any more notes as we are leaving for WARM WEATHER tomorrow. While you and your Father are enjoying skiing, we'll be enjoying golfing, swimming, etc. Can't wait to see you when you get home so you can tell us all the stories you can't write about. Hugs and kisses to you and your Dad, have a safe trip home.
Much love,
Rog and Mar

Sammy,
This blog is really terific. Obviously a bit of technology that has passed me by! The photos are terrific and your runing comentary really gives one a sense of being with you, current time. It is obvious, but I must say that your writing is just beautiful ... wonderfully descriptive (the fog and the ice crusted trees) and funny (runnng laughing and all other "...ings"). Just great!
Glad to know you're doing your homework, of which it sounds like you must have a year's worth. Are you also eating your greens????
It is December 3rd. Give Dad a hug, kiss and birthday wish from us. Love to you both and continue to have fun.
We have discovered that our paved driveway is one of those that melt during the day and freeze overnight. Now there's a new discovery for the Upper Valley?! Poses a definite hazard for those of us prone to falls with unfortunate results. The sand bucket comes on board the afternoon.
Love
